On Arrival

  • Hot water system
In the north-east corner of the Dining Room, a small electrical distribution board can be found. Simply move the second switch from the top (marked 'Main Switch- Hot Water') from 'off' to 'on'. Hot water is provided by a small electrical hot water storage system that does not require any further attention.
  • Rubbish Bins
One or more of the rubbish bins may have been placed out on the Wilson Avenue by the previous tenants and will need to brought back to the Cottage. Rubbish collection is every Tuesday morning with the Recycle Bin (yellow lid) being emptied every other week.

During Your Stay

  • Welcome folder
A folder highlighting local attractions can be found in the drawer of the coffee table in the Lounge Room.
Note: Please be aware that the restaurants in and around Dunsborough are very busy most times of the year and you are unlikely to get a table unless you have booked ahead.
  • The essentials
The easiest place to buy milk, a newspaper (arrives at 7:30am), and other essentials is from the caravan park on Commonage Road (only 600m away).
There is also a Coles Supermarket in Dunsborough.
  • Household appliances
All the user manuals and guides on how to operate the electrical appliances can be found in a file in the Kitchen pantry.
  • Cleaning equipment
Vacuum, brooms, brushes, and other cleaning items can be found in the laundry cupboard located in the Bathroom.
  • Kitchen
A hob switch is located on the electrical power-point to the right of kitchen sink. The electric hotplates will not work without this safety switch being on.
Please do not adjust the temperature of the fridge.
  • WiFi
Unlimited free Internet access is available while staying at the Cottage.
Details on how to connect are located on the fridge door or in the email outlining how to access the Cottage.
  • TV
The aerial amplifier must be plugged into the power and switched on for the TV to pick up a signal.
You can find an online TV Channel Guide here: https://www.freeview.com.au/tv-guide/

  • Fireplace
The fireplace can be used and will heat the entire Cottage during the winter months.
Firewood is not supplied as part of the rental fee, but can be obtained from the local hardware store on Commonage Road (just 900m away) or most of the petrol stations in the area. Or you can simply use the eco fire logs available from Bunnings. Please ensure that the fireplace door is kept closed at all times to prevent smoke setting off the fire alarms. If you have young children in the house, please ensure you use the safety barrier provided.
  • Ashtrays
No smoking inside the Cottage. Ashtrays for outside use can be found in the pantry.
  • Shed
The garden shed at the rear of the property contains items (such as chairs, bikes, beach equipment, etc...) that are available for your use. The combination code for the padlock to the shed will be provided at time of booking. The garden shed marked 'Private' is not accessible as it contains the personal property of the owners.
  • Mountain bikes
Please ensure that you use the bike lock provided. The combination code for the bike lock is 7258.
A bike pump is located in the shed- along with a small puncture repair kit.
  • BBQ
If you run out of gas, please use the spare cylinder next to the BBQ and advise the owners.
If possible, please refill the cylinder at the local hardware store (open 7 days and just 900m away on Commonage Road). We will obviously refund the cost when returning your bond.
Please clean the BBQ thoroughly after use.
  • Supplies
The nearest deli is the caravan park just the other side of the large roundabout on Commonage Road. The Deli is open from about 6:30am thru to 7:00pm-ish and is reasonably large so you can get the paper, milk, ice-cream, toiletries, etc... It is only 600m by road, so a lot closer than Dunsborough (2km away) and makes an easy walk.
  • The Locals
A family of ducks will usually come up out of the inlet to feed on the lawn at the cottage. Or perhaps some friendly magpies who will eat from your hand. Please make sure that children or dogs do not chase them!
You may also see a large black skink or two around the house.
